ALORETTA!

Aloretta is a pop-punk band from North Carolina. They have amazing vocals, amazing instrumentals, and even more amazing members. In a very short time they have come a really long way. From playing shows, all the way to being a signed band. I talked to the bassist, Andrew and he was awesome enough to answer some questions about the band for this site;

Q: Where did you guys come up with the name Aloretta for your band?

A: It was on the back of some Italian CD our first drummer found in his house. He thought it sounded cool so we went with it.

Q: How long were you guys a band before you got signed, and how did you get discovered?

A: Thats a long and tricky story. We've been a band for about a year, our keys player is the owner of Katalyst Records, so thats kinda how it worked out.

Q: What bands influenced the genre of music that you guys play?

A: We are all big fans of Blink 182, and other pop-punk bands. We each kinda have our own taste in pop-punk though, But Andy (singer) wrote most of the songs on our EP. We also like bands like Paramore, and All Time Low, But we all listen to heavier music too.

Q: Where is you guys favorite venue to play?

A: The Brewery! The sound guys are amazing, and its like our home.

Q: What's the best part about being in Aloretta?

A: All of it, for sure. The shows, the fans, the other bands we meet.

you can check out their music on itunes, search: aloretta
or search them on myspace music.
see how great they are for yourself.

BLAQK AUDIO

Featuring the vocal talents of Davey Havok and Jade Puget, (both current AFI members) they have come together to form an electropop, synth-pop band, Blaqk Audio. There first album Cexcells was released August 14, 2007. It reached #18 on the Billboard top 200. Blaqk Audio has changed the original sound of AFI, adding synthesized sounds, that have given the group a more electronic vibe. Even though it may not be the Jade Puget and Davey Havok that you are used to hearing, there side project brings along catchy melodies, and a great sound. They are featured on Myspace Music, and http://www.blaqkaudio.com/. Instrumental versions of some of their songs have been used in trailers for the 2008 film "The Eye." Check them out, and let me know what you think of them :)

SCARF

Something I have noticed in the last couple of months, is this new scarf fad. I've seen them draped around peoples neck in a triangle shape, or just loosely wrapped around guys and girls necks. This is another style that i like the look of, but i think its one of those things thats just "not for everyone," if you know what I mean. Myself included, I don't think i can pull the scarf style off. But I think it works good for some people. I'm sure im not the only one who likes this style, and I'm also sure that there are people who think it's rediculously stupid. Tell me what you think?

VEST

I went shopping the other day, and one thing caught my eye in particular. Every store i went in had vests. I noticed they had vests for guys, and girls. So its a unisex trend. They have them in every fabric, and color i could imagine. I considered getting one, but then i got to thinking about how popular they were actually going to be. I personally liked the "vest look." So I want to know what you think about the "vest look." Do you think its cute, or stupid, why or why not?

WELCOME TO STARSTRUKK REVIEWS
You have probably never heard of STARSTRUKK, so im going to tell you what its all about. STARSTRUKK is a very, very new and unexperienced site. This is my fist attempt at something like this, haha. I created STARSTRUKK to give people a chance to voice their opinions on many topics, and as a way to discover new things that are going on in the world of pop-culture. So for those of you who aren't exactly sure what I mean by "pop-culture," here is my definition. Pop-culture is simply a word used to describe what the media thinks is "in" at the moment. On STARSTRUKK i will review many pop-culture topics, and you can share your very own opinions on everything from music and fashion, to the latest and greatest cell phones and ipods. You can share why you like it, why you hate it, or whatever you have to say about it. I value freedom of speech, so say whatever you want. Let your voice be heard, and have fun here. I hope this turns out to be everything i have expected it to be, and most of all i hope you all enjoy what i have to offer here on STARSTRUKK.
